Not Satisfied With New Name

Question:
A few years ago I changed my birth name as it belonged to my mum. Now I have my father's surname and still I don't feel it's right or compatible as I did with my original name. What's going on? I am constantly looking for a surname or name to suit me.

Answer: (Responses to questions rely on the accuracy of the name and birth date provided with the question. Typographical errors or incomplete information can result in an incorrect response.)

When a name is changed, the energies represented by the numerology numbers of the previous name don't disappear. This is especially true with the birth name; the energies never leave.

The more you identify as the new name, the more influence the new name's energies will have on the person you are and your outlook on life. The more influence your new name has, the less influence the previous name will have. But the influence of the previous name never reduces to zero. There's always an influence.

Even if you change your name back to your birth name, it would be different than it was before; although you're likely to regain the feeling of rightness and compatibility with who you are, at least in part if not completely. The current name's influence will remain, just diminished.

If you decide to change your name to a third version, there will be the energies of two prior names to mix into the energies of the third. The energies may be complimentary or supporting. Or they may present a dissonance. See relevant articles linked from the name changes index page for more information.

Your life path number is the number 7. The number 7, among other things, tends to attract events and circumstances related to introspection for the purpose of solving mysteries or problems. It's also a number of analysis, especially personal analysis. Therefore, you may be more sensitive to the energies of your name than some other people might be with their own names.
