Changing Your Name
Note: We are often asked about "Name Changes" Should I? Shouldn't I? What difference will it make in my life? Would my married name change who I am?
We offer this article in hopes that it will answer some of those questions.
I don't counsel against name changes, and I don't encourage it. It is a very personal decision.
My part is to provide suggestions so you can be better prepared for making the decision for yourself.
Name changes can have unforeseen consequences.
The name given at birth will always be the foundational vibration, no matter what other names are layered over the top. Like a house being painted or remodeled; the foundation remains the same.
However, a name change does have influence. The amount of influence is determined by
- how much the name is used,
- how resolutely the person identifies themselves as the new name, and
- to a lesser degree, how much others identify the person as the new name.
A person always has exactly 100% of their resources and potentials available. Enhancing one resource or potential will reduce another or others. The terms "positive" and "negative" are opinions, not facts; what one sees as positive will be seen as negative by another.
If you are contemplating a voluntary name change, the first question to ask is, "Why?"
The answer can be revealing. If the contemplation is
Look inward. Make sure you are not wanting to enhance aspects of yourself because of a personal feeling of inadequacy -- remember, you are always 100%. (Feelings of inadequacy are feelings related to your opinions of yourself. Often, those opinions result from what you do or don't do and/or how you look at things;not from what you are.) Also, make sure you are not running away from aspects of yourself rather than facing them.
Now, get three sheets of paper.
- On the first sheet, write down what you want to enhance for and/or reduce from who you are.
I want to enhance/reduce (circle one (or both)) _____________________

On the second sheet of paper, list those things you are willing to let go, if
required, in order to accomplish what you wrote on the first sheet.
For that, I am willing to trade these aspects of myself ...

etc.Use the back side or another sheet, if necessary. -
On the third sheet of paper, list those things about yourself you are NOT willing
to let go, even if it means you will not accomplish what you want.
And I am NOT willing to trade these aspects of myself ...

The next step is to get a reading from this website with just your birth date. Don't enter a name. (Get the birth date reading at the bottom of this page.)
After you get the reading for your birth date, save it to your computer or print it out or copy and paste it into an email to yourself. (If you can't save it, then you will need to come back and get the birth date reading whenever you want to refer to it.)
Now the real work comes, but it could also be the fun part.
Make a list of names you think you would like. The names you list should be full, complete names.
Take the list and get a reading for each, with correct birth date, one at a time.
For each name (get the reading at the bottom of this page):
- Compare the reading with "sheet one", above, where you made your statement of what your want to enhance and/or reduce about yourself.
- Compare the reading with "sheet two", and see how many of those things you are willing to trade are missing from your chosen name.
- Compare the reading with "sheet three", and see if any are missing that you are not willing to lose.
- Compare the name portion of the reading with the birth date portion and see if the two are compatible.
Then mark the name as "barely acceptable", "acceptable", or "very acceptable". If the name is not acceptable at all, scratch it out.
After you have obtained the readings and made a decision about each name, write your best names on a separate sheet of paper.
It is now time for deeper study.
There are many aspects of names and cycles based on birth dates that are not addressed in the readings given at this site. Those vibrations could influence your decision.
Either obtain one or more good books on numerology or consult a professional Numerologist whom you feel you can trust.
