Career question. Man friend question.

I am a musician, and from an early age never wanted to do anything else, however, I am now thinking of changing career, and giving up music as a career. I am terrified I am making a massive mistake. I was thinking of going into real estate selling. Is this a wise move? Plus, I am with a man who I am not sure is my soul mate, but I can't seem to pull away from him, or him me. He has a lot of problems, and hasn't made me totally happy, but I don't know how he would cope without me, or if I am just chasing after the soul mate dream. My family HATE him with a passion and feel he is VERY wrong for me, if I stay with him,I am really entering a situation where my family will never even agree meet him (he has been bad to me in the past, and rude to them, so it's not totally without reason) This is very hard for me because I have always been very close to my family.
